Just a quick one:)
I got my first island haircut today.. It was an interesting experience. First thing to know, there are surprisingly a lot of places to get your hair cut in Basseterre. If you do a google search it doesn't appear to be so but when you walk around downtown they seem to be everywhere! The place I had in mind (that I found on google) didn't seem to be at the location google said. So I quickly found the next closest one. I walked in to see a bunch of people sitting in a line and I thought I might have to wait. I had ran (not literally) from school to downtown because I knew I only had a short time slot. I was a bit disappointed that I might have to waste time waiting in line until a guy walked over and told me to sit down in his chair. I still don't know what all those other people sitting in chairs were waiting for... The place was super ghetto but I was determined and in a rush. He asked me what I wanted done and I pretty much said it was up to him.. Let me say that this haircut was the longest haircut Ive ever had in my life. Most of the time I can be in and out in about 10-15 mins at home. This guy took about 35-40 mins! He also cut my hair in the weirdest series of steps ever. Each step of the progression I wasn't exactly sure if he was finished or if he was going to completely do something different.. I was worried at a few moments but in the end it was actually a perfectly normal cut. It was good because his hair was far from normal and that made me slightly anxious. It was also very cheap. 30ec which is about 11 USD. So don't worry there are lots of places to get a haircut. For the girls, not really sure. I think the Marriott has hair cutting facilities $$$. But be adventurous and try one of the many other places ;)
Today was my second Monday of classes. Right back into the swing of things.. Back in the usual outdoor study spot. IN anatomy we finished with the spine and moved onto the upper limbs. Not the most exciting day in the lab, but its all relative. All days are exciting, just a few that are less exciting.
Things I learned today
-I need a better pillow for sleeping
-I'm not as winded walking up the hill to school as I was when I first started making the trip:)
-The cats are back. There was also a dog. Not quite as loud:)
-When I watched a cruise ship sail by my house this evening I was a little jealous and wished I was there. I could imagine almost exactly what all the cruise people were doing. Probably sitting down at dinner watching the lights of SK pass by. In reality they were probably all breathing a sigh of relief that they made it back onto the ship and weren't stranded in crazy St. Kitts.
Good vibes and good night.
Cheers,
Mike
